New workspaces start private. Private collections and uncategorized articles. AI-only articles can also be cited in Leni answers. When Leni source links appear. Search engine exposure and sitemaps, public URL format, and the relationship with the widget's Help tab. Updated

The help-center document shows whether a help article is visible to customers, read only by Leni, or indexed by search engines, and a few settings together determine this. This document brings those rules together in one place.

At a glance

What must be turned on for a help article to be visible to customers?

All four conditions below must be met for the article to appear on the public page and in the widget. If even one is off, customers cannot see it.

ConditionWhere it is set
① Help center is publicPublic help center in Help center settings
② Collection is publicPublic (shown on the help center page) on the collection — all parent collections must also be public
③ PublishedPublish on the article editing screen
④ Shown in help centerCheckbox under Additional settings on the article editing screen

Uncategorized articles (no collection) do not need ②.

Which articles does Leni use for answers?

Leni uses published articles that have '⑤ Use for AI answers' turned on. Leni reads them even when the help center or collection is private, or when "Shown in help center" is off. To keep Leni from reading an article, turn off Use for AI answers or switch it to private (draft).

Making the help center public or private

I have a new workspace. Is the help center public to customers?

No. The help center of a new workspace starts as private. When you first publish an article, Make the help center public? appears; clicking Make public makes it public immediately. If you clicked Later, turn on Public help center in Help center settings.

What happens when the help center is private?

  • Customers who open the public address see "This organization's help center is deactivated."
  • Articles do not appear in the widget's Help tab or in help search on the widget home.
  • There is no search engine indexing and no sitemap.
  • Leni keeps using published articles as answer sources, but does not attach article source links.

Can I use the help center only for Leni training without making it public?

Yes. If you publish articles with the public help center turned off, they are hidden from customers and only Leni uses them as answer sources. If you already run a help center elsewhere, you can use this, or register that site's address as a reference URL.

Hiding collections and articles

If I make a collection private, what happens to the articles inside?

The collection, its subcollections, and all articles inside are hidden from customers. When creating or editing a collection, turn off Public (shown on the help center page).

  • They are removed from the public page, widget, search, sitemap, popular articles, and Leni source links.
  • Opening an article URL directly shows "Help article not found."
  • Leni keeps using those articles as answer sources (if Use for AI answers is on).

How do customers see articles without a collection (uncategorized)?

Once published, they can be opened by article URL and search, but they do not appear in browsing lists. They are absent from the topic browsing on the public home, the left tree, and the widget's Help tab list. To let customers find them by browsing, add them to a collection.

How do I hide just one article from customers?

  • Switch to private — the article returns to draft. It is hidden from both customers and Leni.
  • Turn off Shown in help center — hidden from customers, but Leni still reads it (AI-only article). For combinations of the two checkboxes, see the document Structure and exposure control — collections, featured articles, AI-only articles.

Can content in an AI-only article be seen by customers?

Yes, it can. AI-only articles do not appear on the public page, widget, search, or sitemap, but when Leni answers a customer's question it may quote the content directly. Only the source link is omitted.

Do not put information customers should not know, such as internal policies or discount criteria, into AI-only articles either. The same applies to FAQs and reference URLs.

Source links in Leni answers

When do source links appear under Leni's answers?

Only when the article is one customers can open.

  • Help articles — a link is attached only to articles that meet all of ①–④. AI-only articles and articles inside private collections are given as answers without links.
  • If the help center is private, no help article sources are attached at all.
  • If a translation exists in the answer language, the link leads to that language version.
  • Reference URLs — the web page address containing the content is attached as the source, regardless of whether the help center is public.

Search engines

How do I get the help center to appear in Google search?

Turn on 'Show in search engines' in Help center settings. It is off by default, and can only be turned on when the help center is public.

  • When on, a sitemap is provided so search engines such as Google and AI search can find content — https://api.lenit.cloud/api/v1/public/{workspace URL}/help/sitemap.xml
  • When off, search results are blocked (noindex). Customers who know the address can still view it.
  • Only articles visible to customers are included in the sitemap and search indexing. Articles inside private collections and AI-only articles are excluded.

'Show in search engines' won't turn on.

It cannot be turned on while the help center is private. If you see "The help center must be public to be shown in search engines," first turn on Public help center. Search indexing for public feedback boards and announcements is determined by your plan — see the document Public feedback board.

Address and widget

What does the customer-facing help center address look like?

It is https://lenit.cloud/board/help?slug={workspace URL}.

  • Collection — /board/help/c/{collection slug}?slug=…
  • Article — /board/help/a/{article slug}?slug=…
  • When showing a language other than the original, the language is appended at the end, such as &lang=en.

You can open it directly with Open public page in the admin screen. A setting to turn on the help tab over the public board is not currently supported, so share this address in the site footer or in emails.

How are the widget Help tab and public help center related?

The widget Help tab is turned on and off separately in widget settings, and the articles shown in the tab follow the same conditions as the public page.

  • The tab appears only when Help is turned on in the widget settings' bottom tabs (off by default).
  • The tab shows only articles meeting all of ①–④. If the help center is private, articles will not appear even with the tab on, so keep the tab off until you make the help center public.
  • For tab settings, see the document Widget appearance and home layout.

Frequently asked questions

I published an article but the public page shows "Help article not found."

Check whether the collection that contains the article (or a parent collection) is private, or whether "Shown in help center" is off on the article. If you changed the slug, the old address will no longer open.

If I make the help center private, can Leni still answer?

Yes. Only the public page goes down; Leni continues to use published articles (with Use for AI answers on) as answer sources. However, article source links are not attached.
