Customer groups & segment analysis
Go past raw vote counts and see who is actually asking. Group your customers, then look at which groups voted for each idea and decide from there.
How it's organized
The feature lives on two screens.
- Customers (
/admin/customers) — the customer directory and your group (segment) definitions - Feedback analysis (
/admin/analysis) — how votes break down by group, per idea, plus comparisons
Prerequisite: send customer data through the widget
Customers are only identified and collected once the widget passes a userId and traits (plan, userType, signupDays, and so on). Traits are free-form key-values your own product defines — you decide what the categories mean. See the widget installation guide for setup.
Customers
Browse the directory of customers collected through the widget, and build customer groups (segments).
Creating a customer group (segment)
Give it a name and a color, then add conditions. Each condition is a trait key / operator / value.
| Operator | Meaning |
|---|---|
| = | Equals |
| ≠ | Does not equal |
| > | Greater than |
| ≥ | Greater than or equal to |
| < | Less than |
| ≤ | Less than or equal to |
| contains | Contains the value |
For example: plan = pro AND userType = heavy — your paid heavy users.
You can also manage trait definitions — their name and description.
Feedback analysis
See which customer groups voted for each idea in a donut or bar chart. Click an idea to open its detail panel.
Compare tab
Put two groups side by side and compare what each one voted for — what paid customers want versus what free customers want — so you can decide who to build for first.
Group insights on the idea detail
The idea detail screen also shows a group insights panel on the right, so you can see who's backing an idea while you're reading it. For everything else, see the managing ideas guide.
