Designing your traits

traits is the object you use to pass your own user attributes to Lenit. Lenit stores those values and uses them for segment analysis.

Limits

  • Flat key-value pairs only — no nested objects
  • Up to 20 keys, 5KB total
  • No personal data — never send PII such as email, phone or name

Rules like "a heavy user visits 30+ times a month" belong in your own business logic — decide there and send traits.userType: "heavy". Lenit only aggregates the values it receives.
