Announcements and changelog

How to write, publish, and AI-draft the announcements (changelog) that tell customers what you shipped.

Writing your first announcement

Click Announcements (/admin/announcements) in the admin sidebar, then New announcement to open the editor.

Pick one of four categories.

The body is rich text, and you can link the related idea.

Publish states and scheduling

An announcement has three publish states.

  • Draft — still being written, not public yet
  • Scheduled — set to publish automatically at a chosen time
  • Published — live on the public board

Scheduled publishing lets you pick a date and time (in your workspace time zone) for the announcement to go live. You can cancel a schedule any time before it publishes.

Managing the list

From the announcement list you can:

  • Pin toggle — keep an important announcement at the top
  • Edit — reopen the editor and change the content
  • Copy public link — grab the link to share with customers
  • Delete — remove the announcement

The list also shows how many reactions each announcement received.

AI drafts

Jot down what changed in the right-hand panel of the editor and AI writes a changelog draft. You'll see progress — "reading sources → writing draft" — and the content lands in the editor when it's done. Saving is up to you.

Drafting supports three modes.

  1. Describe the changes — write what changed and generate a draft from it
  2. From recently shipped feedback — pick a 7, 14, 30, or 90-day window and draft from the feedback completed in it
  3. From GitHub PRs — draft from the PRs you deployed
NotePlan requirement
AI drafting is available from the Starter plan ($39/mo).

Customer response — emoji reactions

On the announcements tab of the public board, customers can react with emoji (👍 😍 🔥 👀 😢 🎉). It's a light way to gauge which updates landed well.

Publishing and webhooks

Publishing an announcement can fire the announcement.published webhook event, so your own systems can use it as a trigger for whatever notification you want.

If you publish an announcement linked to an idea, you can target the webhook audience at the customers who voted or commented on that idea.
